Draw a Polygon uses sketch tools to make a free-hand polygon drawing for the work area.

Work area name

The work area is given a default name of "Work Area" followed by the number of the work area in this project.

You can rename this work area if desired.

Merge overlapping work areas

If this option is checked and you create a new work area that overlaps an existing one, the original work area will have its shape updated to the union of the two geometries.

*This option is only available in Project.

Draw a polygon

Click on the map when Draw is selected to begin drawing a polygon. To complete a polygon, double-click during the draw process.

Move and resize polygon

Single-click on a completed polygon to enable the resize and move functionality.

Moving and resizing can be undone by clicking the Undo button in the draw polygon menu.

Reshape polygon

A completed polygon can be reshaped by double-clicking on the polygon.

Vertices are represented by an orange circle.

Dragging the orange circle will reshape the polygon.

Right-clicking on the orange circle will remove the vertex from the polygon.

Between each of the vertices is a white circle. Clicking on the white circle will create a new vertex in the polygon.

Draw options

The Draw button and Snap to layer(s) functionalities are selected by default.

Snap to layer(s)
When turned on, your pointer will jump, or snap to, edges, vertices, and other geometric elements when your pointer is near them and within a certain tolerance.

This enables you to position a feature easily in relation to the locations of other features.

A list of available layers that can be 'snapped to' will appear under the Snappable Layers header. Each Snappable Layer can be toggled on or off.

A drawn line is that perpendicular to a Snappable Layer will appear as follows.

Note the right angle square in orange.

The snappable layer will highlight when the drawing cursor is within range:

Undo button

While drawing on the map, the Undo button with be enabled.

Clicking Undo will incrementally revert to the previous states of the polygon in the stack.

Redo button

The Redo will incrementally redo the states.

Delete button

The Delete button will enable when the polygon is complete.

Clicking the Delete button will remove the polygon from the map.

Clicking the Draw button again will also reset the drawing process.
