Enter Start and End Point on Route creates a work area based on a starting and ending milepoint on a route.

Start creating work area by toggling the button "On".

Work area name

You can enter a name for this work area if desired.

If no name was entered, the work area name will be "Route: Start point - End point".

Merge overlapping work areas

If this option is checked and you create a new work area that overlaps an existing one, the original work area will have its shape updated to the union of the two geometries.

*This option is only available in Project.

Route, Start point, End point

To begin, click on the road, then click on the start point, and then click on the end point.

You can zoom in and out and pan the map while you're doing this.

As you click on the points, the route number and milepoints will be filled in the appropriate fields in the wizard.

You can only add one road segment in this manner to create a work area.

Buffer(ft)

The buffer value defaults based on the selected road type, but you can override it if you want to use a different buffer size.

Edge style

You have the option to specify the edge style for road segment polygons, which should result in either squared or arced endpoints on the road segment work areas.

Use entire route, Include ramps, Include HOV lanes

You can choose to use the entire route rather than specifying the start and end milepoints, and optionally include ramps and HOV lanes that are in the road segment.

Preview, Clear Preview

To preview the route, and clear it once done.

Click the Add Work Area(s) button to create the work area.
